Sangeet Natak Akademi announces Yuva Puraskar awards for artsistes

The prestigious Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar awarded every year by Sangeet Natak Akademy has been announced for the year 2012. The award for 33 young artistes in classical music dance and traditional forms of arts will be presented this year.

The awardess are:

Music: Bhuvanesh Komkali and Kumar Somanath Mardur (Hindustani vocal), Savani Talwalkar (Hindustani Instrumental (tabla), Ranjani and Gayatri and Gayathri Girish (Carnatic vocal), Instrument: N. Guruprasad (ghatam), B.C. Manjunath (mridangam) and Anirudh Athreya (kanjira).

Dance: Uma Sathya Narayanan (Bharatanatyam), Anuj Mishra (Kathak), Kalamandalam A. Harinarayanan (Kathakali), Sinam Basu Singh (Manipuri), Vedantam Satya Narasimha Sastry (Kuchipudi), Yudhisthir Nayak (Odishi), Bhabananda Barbayan (Sattriya) and Preethi Balachandran Athreya (contemporary dance).

Theatre: Nalini Nihar Nayak, Asheish Nijhawan and Aditee Biswas (direction), Jasvir Kumar and Happy Ranajit (acting), Sandhya Gangadhar Salve and Nalini R. Joshi - Allied Theatre Arts (Costume Design), Gyandev Singh - Allied Theatre Arts (Lighting Design).

Traditional / Folk / Tribal Dance / Music/ Theatre / Mime and Puppetry: Lakhwinder Wadali - folk music (Punjab), Firoze Khan Manganiyar - folk music (Rajasthan), Nandesh Vitthal Umap - folk music (Maharashtra), Ganesh Sampatrao Chandanshive - folk music -Tamasha (Maharashtra), Padmini Dora - folk music (Odisha), Vishaka Hari - Traditional music (Tamil Nadu), Bikrama Khakhlari - Bodo dance (Assam), Moumita Adak - Puppetry.
