Sri Thyagaraja Aradhana in Thiruvaiyaru - Jan. 11 to 15, 2020

The 173rd edition of saint Thyagaraja Aradhana held annually in Thiruvaiyaru near Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu is to be be held from January 11 to 15, 2020.



Musicians from across the globe come to offer a musical tribute to Saint Thyagaraja, one of the trinity composers of Carnatic music on the day of his attained samadhi. Concerts are held from Jan. 11, 2020 and on the Pushya Bahula Panchami day which falls on Jan. 15 this musicians sing the pancharatna kritis composed by the saint composer, as a group and offer their homage.

The samadhi of Thyagaraja situated on the banks of Cauvery and the concerts held all along the day receive many musicians and music lovers during these 5 days. Every day, nadaswaram vidwans perform late into the night. The evenings before this are for top graded artistes.

On the final day, the idol of Saint Thyagaraja is taken on a procession through the village. The scenes, music and the river flowing along are rich experiences to anyone who loves nature, heritage and music.
