The centenary celebrations of vidwan R. K. Srikantan will be held from Jan. 14 to 23, 2020.
The inauguration of the celebrations will be held on Jan. 14, 2020 with a screening of a documentary on Vidwan R.K. Srikantan at 4 p.m. This will be followed by Bharatanatyam by Lakshmi Gopala Swamy and a talk by Shathavadani R. Ganesh. The function will be in the presence of Sri Sri Yadugiri Yathiraja Narayana Ramanuja Jeeyar, who will confer the R.K. Srikantan National Excellence Award to Krishnamoorthy Sastrigal. Tejasvi Surya, Hon'ble Member of Parliament, will inaugurate the festival and present the R.K. Srikantan National Eminence Award to violinist M. Chandrasekaran. Dr. Rajkumar Upadhyaya, ITS. Addl. Director General DD & AIR Prasar Bharathi will be the chief guest and release the book 'Sampradaya Sangeeta Darshini' containing 15 kritis notated by R.K.Srikantan.The guest of honour on the occasion will be Trivandrum Balasubramaniam, Director, South Zone Cultural Centre, Thanjavur and will release the live audio CD of vidwan R.K. Srikantan.
At 6.30 p.m. vidushis Ranjani & Gayatri will present a vocal concert with H.M. Smitha (Violin), K.V. Prasad (Mridangam), Sukanya Ramgopal (Ghatam)
The inaugural day functions will be held at Chowdiah Memorial Hall, Bangalore.
From Jan. 15 to 23, 2020, the events will be held at Seva Sada, Malleshwaram, Bangalore.
The events are open to all.
